The NHS is well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases and has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.
In view that GP’s are no longer insured to give travel vaccinations and/or give relevant travel vaccination advice, which are not listed under the Primary Care GMS contract, the partnership have elected NOT TO CONTINUE this service.
Subsequently, as per BMA Guidelines, Praze & Connor Downs Surgery will not be giving the following vaccinations for travel:
- Hep B
- Japanese encephalitis
- Meningitis vaccines
- Tick-borne Encephalitis
- Yellow fever
We will, however, provide the following vaccinations (under the primary care GMS contract) which may be helpful for any co-incidental travel:
- Polio (Given as combined Dip/tet/polio jab)
- Hep A
Please find the links below which will direct you to organisations outside the National Health Service which can provide you will the appropriate travel vaccinations and advice, privately.
It is your responsibility to ascertain which vaccinations you need, & also to inform yourself fully of recommended travel safe precautions. Please use the following links to see if you need any vaccination that we provide before contacting the surgery. Once you have done so, submit a klinik enquiry and bring the printout of the vaccination to your appointment.
